Black Swan

After being blown away again last night at the cinema and seeing Darren Aronofsky's master piece for the 2nd time round, I have come to a conclusion that films like this don't come around very often. Something as sexy, compelling, gripping and dark as "Black Swan" is why I love movies period. After watching this movie I've fallen in love with movies all over again and I may have possibly found a new interest in the ballet. (It doesn't mean I'm getting my tights out, but I appreciate it more).

After watching this movie I've learnt that "No ones perfect, so you might as well lose yourself"

The costume collaboration by internationally renowned fashion designers Rodarte and Yumiko come together very strong in this movie, when it comes to the beautiful  Rodarte ballet costumes you simply cannot ignore the delicate detail and their incorporation with Swarovski crystals. Using the crystals becomes this dynamic within the costumes to create a mood and certain illusions, I love how the movie isn't approached as a "fashion montage" it's all about creating an emotion and feeling with the costumes on screen. Below are a couple of behind the scenes stills from the set of the movie.

Here we see Nina Sayers played by Natalie Portman as the beautiful innocent, sweet and angelic white swan

The black swan, Nina's sexy, free, seductive and very dark alter ego

Lights, Camera, Fashion: 2011 Golden Globes No.3 the best dressed

Here we go the one we've all been waiting for, best dressed. The lovely ladies outfits I've chosen are all completely different from one another, we see bright vixen red, beautiful emerald green, classic and still very sexy black and chocolate brown. Enjoy.

Olivia Wilde

One word that comes to mind when I look at this dress is GLAMOROUS (and then Fergie's song pop's into my head). Olivia wears a strapless, chocolate brown embroidered Marchesa ball gown and of course those insane yellow gold Christian Louboutin heels. This wasn't that popular with me but it was very popular to my girls I spoke to and on the red carpet, so I thought what the heck and decided to put her in 4th place on my best dressed

January Jones

I always say "if you've got it flaunt it" and January Jones (yes that is her real name) has definitely got IT to flaunt. In this sexy and daring Versace dress I love January's complete look from the hair to the make-up to the stunning dress. My favourite part of the dresses is the bottom fringe detail which you don't notice until she moves. 3rd place goes to Mrs.Jones. And the colour looks devine on her skin tone.

Eva Longoria

A huge shout out to Zac Posen for making Eva look sultry, sexy and flawless. The petite beauty took my breath away (literally) when I saw her on the red carpet, my favourite part of the dress is the back, I love the cut out detail on her shoulders. 2nd place to the beautiful Eva.

Angelina jolie

And this is what it comes down to, perfection personified! Jolie wore this amazing long sleeved emerald green gown purely encrusted with Swarovski crystals (which seemed to be popular on the red carpet) by Atelier Versace. She completed the look with Ferragamo heels and jewels by Robert Procop. Why Jolie is my No.1 on the red carpet is because she is effortless, make up is just simple black eyeliner, hair isn't perfect & pushed to one side and the colour of the dress looks beautiful on her skin. An example of getting it right without even trying, congratulations Angelina Jolie for being the best dressed at the 68th Annual Golden Globes.

Can't wait to see what the ladies and gents bring to the red carpet next year.

Lights, Camera, Fashion: 2011 Golden Globes No.2 the men

At this years Golden Globes the men looked hot, but if I'm being honest it's not very hard to look bad in a tuxedo that fits nicely. But with the tuxedo's there are many ways to take it to the next level and we see that down below with the men I have chosen as my favourite on last night's red carpet. We see Chris Colfer combining textures, Robert Pattinson and Robert Downey Jr. ditching the basic black and going for some colour and Ryan Gosling really taking it to the limit by... well you'll see.

Chris Colfer (Winner, Best Supporting Actor in a TV, TV movie or Miniseries)
I love how Chris stuck to a classic look by keeping the tie skinny and a beautiful high shine lapel

Robert Pattinson
Robert looks handsome with a new hair cut in this Gucci navy Marseille grosgrain peak lapel one button tuxedo and a midnight navy tie

Robert Downey Jr.
I'm a fan of colour and I'm an even bigger fan of a man who isn't a afraid of colour. Downey wore a Prada charcoal grey seta two-button notch collar tuxedo with a red duchesse satin tie with a matching pocket square

Ryan Gosling
Looking absolutely timeless Ryan wore this black velvet (yes people velvet from head to toe) Ferragamo tuxedo, leather shoes by Ferragamo and a cute Hugo Boss black velvet bow tie

Lights, Camera, Fashion: 2011 Golden Globes No.1 the risk takers

I love these ladies, and why I love them is because the sky is the limit when it comes to the red carpet. Anne Hathaway blew me away in dress simply because of the beautiful detail that went into this dress and the structure of the shoulders, I love how Halle decided to show off her legs, a lot of the time at these award ceremonies it's all about the long maxi gowns but Halle shows us you can still steal the show without covering up. And last but not least Helena Bonham Carter, she probably knocks both Anne and Halle out for being a risk taker on the red carpet but you know what I love the most about her outfit, is that she is having fun and not taking it too seriously, a lot of the time people try so hard to get on the best dressed list, but for Helena it's all about enjoying the show and wearing something that shows off her personality. (She certainly did with the different coloured shoes)

Anne Hathaway

The beautiful Anne Hathaway looks gorgeous in this amber tone Giorgio Armani evening gown, fully embellished with paillettes and Swarovski crystals from his Fall Winter 2010-211 couture collection. I love the open back.

Halle Berry

This women is ridiculously beautiful and she seems to get more and more stunning with age. The 44 year old Oscar winner wore this sexy dress is by Nina Ricci, bringing the underwear as outwear and keeping it chic by the dress being black but also taking a risk with the see through train, I feel this is edgy mixed with sexy.

Helena Bonham Carter

In this eye-catching dress by Vivienne Westwood with yes, different coloured shoes
Helena told an interviewer: "If your going to spend three hours getting ready you may as well go for it" and you know what I say to that Helena, HELL YEAH!

Lights, Camera, Fashion: 2011 Golden Globes

Right guys I'm totally in my element right now, one of my favourite times of the year is January, purely because there are so many ceremonies that take place whether it's the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) awards, Golden Globes (which took place last night) or the BAFTA's you can always count on me getting my front row seat at home and finding out who wore what on the red carpet as well as who won what award. So I've narrowed it down into 3 categories: No.1 the risk takers (my favourite), No.2 the men and last but not least No.3 the best dressed.

On the Golden Globe red carpet this year we saw a lot of emerald greens, classic but very sexy black and a new colour for the red carpet a pink/salmon. These colours kept on popping up on the red carpet which I thought was a nice change from your usual reds, nudes and white. Check out the ladies that didn't make it on my list but I think rocked the red carpet in their own way.
